Pan, Tilt & Zoom IP CameraNetwork cameras (or Network IP Cameras as they are also known) are a revolutionary concept for security systems and a whole variety of other applications. Network cameras, as the name suggests, are run via existing computer networks, and even over secure systems on the Internet using a series of IP numbers in a similar way computers in a computer network might do.        Network cameras can do away with the need for an independent system of cables that traditional (analogue) CCTV camera systems require. In addition they allow storage of recordings on standard PC or External Hard Drive.

These cameras can be viewed and controlled from any computer on the internet, via a secure web site or even a compatible mobile phone. Place them in your home, office, shop, holiday home or almost anywhere else that you'd like to keep an eye on things.  They are easy to operate and require no additional software for the PC that you're viewing them on. Each camera also comes with a free Web address, which can track the camera automatically. All you need is a regular internet connection to view them on your PC, as all of the other required software, including control software, is already inside the camera.

Wireless IP Camera  IP Surveillance systems allow the possibility of viewing real-time camera images securely over the internet, meaning that even small companies can devise their own property surveillance from anywhere in the world.

Network IP Cameras can also be wireless, allowing for a whole host of applications where wiring up a camera directly is simply not an option or has previously been prohibitively expensive.

BURGLARS CAPTURED BY ONLINE CAMERA SENTENCED

John Ellison, 52, from Lancaster, was alerted by his home security system as he holidayed in Spain and watched live Network camera footage on his laptop computer.

Mr Ellison, a company director, contacted police in Lancashire as he watched the burglary unfold on 7 September 2006.

He watched the scenes from Spain as three masked raiders worked their way through his house causing £12,000 worth of damage.

Mr Ellison then saw the police arrive and arrest the pair via the Network cameras he had installed in his home.

He then toasted their arrest with a glass of champagne

My mobile phone rang and advised me that the Network Camera had been activated by its motion detector, so I just logged onto the internet, looked at the intruders; He said.  "I rang the police and told them that there were intruders there and within four and a half minutes the police were there. It was remarkable really."

Magistrates sentenced Mark Johnson, 46, from Lancaster, to six months for the burglary. Ian McClements, 20, of Morecambe, was sentenced to custody for four months.

Mr Ellison  said. "I'll be celebrating tonight - with another bottle of champagne."
